Choosing a cosmetology school is one of the most important decisions a student can make. At the University of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences, we understand that education is not just about hours in a classroom—it’s about building a foundation of trust, integrity, and opportunity. These are the same qualities championed by organizations like the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
The University of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences traces its roots back to 1955, when it first opened its doors in San Juan, TX as Magic Valley Beauty College, Inc. In 1976, the Shearer family purchased the school, ushering in a new era of growth. By 1984, the name University of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences was adopted, and the flagship campus moved to McAllen.
The two San Antonio campuses, founded in 1962, became part of the University of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences in 2000 and were unified under the name in 2010. Today, the school proudly serves students at six campuses: McAllen, Harlingen, Brownsville, La Joya, San Antonio (410/Fredericksburg), and San Antonio (Pica/SE Military).
